Yair Elazar Glotman is a composer and musician based in Berlin.
Trained in classical music as an orchestral contrabass player and in electroacoustic composition, Glotman’s work bridges traditional and experimental practices. His primary focus is film composition, having contributed to two Academy Award–winning scores: Joker and All Quiet on the Western Front. His approach draws on classical and electroacoustic traditions, blending improvisation, extended contrabass techniques, and an interest in textural and spatial sound, often merging analog and digital processes.
Glotman began composing for film and media through his close collaboration with the late Jóhann Jóhannsson, co-composing Last and First Men (2020) and contributing to Mandy (2018). He co-scored A24’s False Positive (2021) with cellist Lucy Railton, and most recently composed the original score for Netflix’s Reptile (2023), starring Benicio del Toro. He has also collaborated with leading composers including Hildur Guðnadóttir, Volker Bertelmann (Hauschka), Ben Frost, Chris Clark, Geoff Barrow & Ben Salisbury, and Dustin O’Halloran. Beyond film and television, his work extends to dance and opera, notably designing the soundtrack for Na’ama Zisser’s Mamzer (Royal Opera House, 2018).
In parallel with his film work, Glotman continues to release and perform his own music—both under his own name and through projects such as KETEV, as well as collaborations with composers Mats Erlandsson and Viktor Orri Árnason. His recordings have been released on respected labels including Deutsche Grammophon, 130701/FatCat, Bedroom Community, Miasma, and Subtext. He has performed internationally at festivals and venues such as MaerzMusik, CTM, Atonal, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Steirischer Herbst, and the Volksbühne.
